Men and women have distinctly different features regarding the way the body is built. There is the presence or absence of wider hips, thicker thighs and buttocks, breasts, shoulders, body hair… Together these characterize what we could call a masculine or a feminine looking body.
Men often have an apple shape, which means that body fat collects mainly in the abdominal area. Women are more pear-shaped: the body fat is concentrated more in the buttocks, hips and thighs. The area of the hip bone is distinctly different between the male and female body, as shown in the illustration below. With liposuction and lipofilling your own body fat can be used to create more feminine hips. This is called a hip augmentation. Some forums can only be seen by registered members.

Two different things are being talked about, here The width of hips is determined by skeletal structure Having truly narrow or wide hips isn't something that can be altered unless by something drastic, like breaking and resetting the pelvis. When people talk about wide, "child-bearing" hips, they're talking about the span of the pelvic bones You can have a narrow pelvis and still collect fat around your hips, and you can be a skeleton and still have a wide pelvic span.

Ugh, I hate my body. It's really hard to find flattering styles when you are busty or broad in the beam. Your will be an Inverted Triangle , a Rectangle or an Apple shape.
If you don't know your hip shape Look at your profile and identify the widest part of your bottom half. Ask her to stand behind and put her hands each side of your waist, running them firmly down your sides to find your widest part. Disregard body fat, you're feeling for bone structure.
If some women have HIPS in one place and some in another - how do we ever find anything to fit? Did you know that clothes are designed and specially made for these two very distinct hip shapes?
Unless a garment is completely minute and stretchy it will be cut to fit either one of these. Some manufacturers will design for one shape of woman and some for another. Crazy isn't it? Why has no-one ever thought to tell us that? You probably haven't even realized the shapes that you have in your closet The women above are different shapes and sizes but if you look carefully you will be able to tell their hip shapes as I've done.
The clue to a curved hip if it's not obvious is that most women like to wear a more relaxed fit and a belt around their slimmer waist. A straight hip may carry extra weight around the midriff but her thighs stay slim and she's likely to wear a straight trouser leg with more confidence. But remember, whatever your age shape or size, your bone structure always stays the same! The widest part is at thigh level 7 to 10 inches below the waist just about at the top of her left hand.
The skirt then tapers in to slim the silhouette. If it did not taper in there would be no curves but would just appear wide all the way down. If a straight hip shape wears this skirt, there is excess fabric on the thighs, giving the appearance of 'jodpurs'. A bias cut skirt is particularly figure flattering for a curved hip shape. The fabric is cut at a 45 degree angle so that it drapes to the shape of the body.
